Rough Cut



Things I need to change for the final film:

  • A few more establishing shots of the different locations
  • Generally more long shots (I feel as though the whole film is too close to the camera all the time)
  • The window shot needs to be re-filmed as my finger is in it
  • Wider shots of the two characters as they wake up to distinguish between the different locations
  • Re-film rich looking through his wallet
  • Long shot of the poor man getting ready (to show off the setting more)
  • Re-film the close up of the poor man getting ready so he is more central
  • Fridge scene needs to be more obvious that the juice is empty and how he is annoyed to have to be drinking water
  • Poor man needs to enjoy the water more
  • A Better transition from the poor man drinking to counting the money
  • Need to film the ending at the shop to round it all off

Watching short films Operator: By the title of this short film, I expect that it may be relatively tense. I think that there will be one main character, who is the operator, and they may be controlling something very important. These expectations were relatively right, it was about a call operator for the fire service, they were directing a very stressful call where a woman and her child were trapped in a burning house, waiting to be rescued. We were focused on the operator the whole time and despite the fact that she sounded like she was staying calm throughout, we could see on her face that she was worried herself. As the short film ends, the phone call cuts off and she moves straight onto a new phone call, without finding out the end of the traumatic experience. 10. Story Ideas, Plot Synopsis and Story Board

Ideas for the film Narrative Plot Synopsis: The beginning of my film will show the morning routines of my two characters (a rich man and a homeless man) It will cut between the two characters doing different things e.g. getting dressed, and having a drink. With each different part of there routine, I will have something which set's the two different characters morals apart. When the characters go for a drink, the rich man will have run out of juice, which makes him clearly angry that he has to drink tap water, but then the homeless person will happily drink out of a dirty water bottle. These two scenes happening one after another will show to the audience that the rich man does not appreciate how lucky he is to have his standard of life. One other key point in the story is that we see the homeless man count his money, and although there is not a lot there, he is very happy about it and leaves with the money to go to the shops. 7.'Generating ideas' idea- Planning

Randomly generated ideas One way that you can generate ideas is at random. we did this by having a grid with different characters, locations, situations, objects, and when it occurred, we then chose numbers at random that corresponded to each of these. After doing this, i got: a swarm of bees where everyone is weightless alone on a strange planet with a golden hammer in a few weeks  If i was to create a film about this scenario, it would be a sci-fi film about a space explorer, this explorer may come across a strange planet and goes to check it out, it at the start he thinks it would be a great planet for humans to live on as there is oxygen in the atmosphere and thousands of different plant life. However once venturing down a cave, he discovers the truth about why the ecosystem is so great.
