13. Evaluation

Image
Representation:   I have created a short film showing the contrasting lives between that of a wealthy individual, and someone much worse off. In order to portray to the  audience  the severe differences between my two characters, I made use of the microelements of film form. The setting is the most prominent part of mise-en-scene that helps me show the difference between their lives. With one waking up in a horrible ,  abandoned building, and the other in a warm looking double bed, it is instantly clear that they are two very different people.      In a similar way to this, I have used costume to put one character in a clearly more privileged position (by wearing a suit) whereas the poor homeless man is wearing scruffy looking, dirty clothes. In one part of the film, I attempted to use both props, and character expression to show the more specific differences between their lives, the rich man had to drink tap water as he had run out of juice and was clearly not pleas

12. Final Cut

Image
Final Film I am relatively happy with this, however, unfortunately, I was not allowed to film in a shop so had to improvise and make a jigsaw stand as that is all I could do at short notice, this is certainly a shame since if he could not afford food it would be a lot more emotional.

11. Rough Cut

Image
Rough Cut Things I need to change for the final film: A few more establishing shots of the different locations Generally more long shots (I feel as though the whole film is too close to the camera all the time) The window shot needs to be re-filmed as my finger is in it Wider shots of the two characters as they wake up to distinguish between the different locations Re-film rich looking through his wallet Long shot of the poor man getting ready (to show off the setting more) Re-film the close up of the poor man getting ready so he is more central Fridge scene needs to be more obvious that the juice is empty and how he is annoyed to have to be drinking water Poor man needs to enjoy the water more A Better transition from the poor man drinking to counting the money Need to film the ending at the shop to round it all off

10. Story Ideas, Plot Synopsis and Story Board

Image
Ideas for the film Narrative Plot Synopsis: The beginning of my film will show the morning routines of my two characters (a rich man and a homeless man) It will cut between the two characters doing different things e.g. getting dressed, and having a drink. With each different part of there routine, I will have something which set's the two different characters morals apart. When the characters go for a drink, the rich man will have run out of juice, which makes him clearly angry that he has to drink tap water, but then the homeless person will happily drink out of a dirty water bottle. These two scenes happening one after another will show to the audience that the rich man does not appreciate how lucky he is to have his standard of life. One other key point in the story is that we see the homeless man count his money, and although there is not a lot there, he is very happy about it and leaves with the money to go to the shops. As the rich man leaves, we see that he leaves

9.my idea - setting, costume, props and casting

My Idea: I have decided to do a film focusing on the homeless, The reason I have chosen this is because I have already found a location that I would like to film, and am planning on moulding a story around this building that I have found: This building has a lot of character and many interesting features to film, for example, the broken windows, doors, and floorboards, as well as the graffiti all over the walls. I have had a look at another short film about a  homeless man (bellow) and taken some inspiration. I like the way that in this film, you feel sorry for the homeless man, I think I will do a similar thing but take it even further, instead of just feeling sorry for the homeless man, I will add another character who treats him badly, making him the enemy on screen. I like the idea of having binary opposites in my film, so I think that the two characters I am creating are going to be completely as different as possible. As I have already decided, I will hav
